This lens is a high-performance Micro lens featuring special Vibration Reduction (VRII) and high-speed Internal Focusing (IF) mechanisms. It also employs a Silent (S) Wave Motor to drive the focusing mechanism. At infinity to 1/30x reproduction ratio, Pictures can be taken at shutter speeds approx. 4 stops slower than possible without using a VRII lens, thus expanding the range of usable shutter speeds options and making shooting without a tripod much easer.
