Nikon Macro Speedlight SB-29 ring flash unit.
In macro photography as in all photography nothing is more important to a image than good light. As easy as it can be to take flash photo’s mastering the control of the light in close-up photography it can be a challenge even to the most advanced photographer. Many of the cameras manufactures have tried to simplify the flash challenges with units designed especially for close-up photography , Nikon also did this with the Macro Speedlight SB29.
Electronic construction: Automatic silicon-controlled rectifier and series circuitry.
Power source : 4 AA-type zinc-carbon 1.5volt penlight batteries.
Guide number : 11 for both flash modules , 12 for single module at full flash output. 5.5 for both modules at M ¼ flash output.
Angle of coverage: Covers pictures angle of 20mm lens ( flash modules set horizontally and 24mm lens ( flash modules set vertically ) at a distance of 1m with 35mm cameras.
Power switch : Three positions are provided: OFF , ON , and STBY. At STBY position the SB-29 automatically turns itself off after 80 seconds when flash it not used.
Flash mode selector : TTL, M or M1/4 mode selectable.
Ready light: Lights up when SB-29 is recycled and ready to fire. Blinks for 3 seconds when flash is at maximum output, indicating light may be insufficient ( in TTL mode)
Overexposure warning indicator Led : lights up for approx. 4 seconds. After shooting to indicate that the picture may have been overexposed.
