Nikon Model M with Nippon Kogaku Tokyo Nikkor-S.C 5cm F4 lens. Unsynch version

In August of 1949 Nikon introduced the Nikon M . This to replace the Nikon 1 which had the 24X32mm format. The Nikon M is the only Nikon rangefinder ever made to be identified on the camera itself. The letter M precedes the serial number. The numbering of the M started at 609759. This was the first camera from Nikon with a fixed factory aligned take-up spool, which simplifies the loading .After number 6092350 ? the factory decided to add flash synch . In January 1951 Nippon Kogaku replaced the model M with model S. This camera comes with the later rigid model lens.
