Nikon Model S ( Standard) rangefinder camera with Nikkor HC 5cm F2 lens.

Produced from 1951 this was the first Nikon camera to be actively promoted in the US .It replaced the model M. The Nikon S released by Nippon Kogagu retained all the features preceding M, even down to the 24X34mm format. The starting number of the S series is 6094000. There are not a great deal of variations in the Nikon S but some do exists .Not many of the model S where sold in Europe. It has many}_”{)kl.¶/similarities with the Zeiss Contax models .But the shutter is a focal plane shutter , not like the Contax. It is a very well build camera and was sold mostly with a Nikkor 50mm F1.4 lens.  Early models came with 50mm F2 lens. A total of 36,746 Nikon S where built. There are a wide range of lenses built for this camera .
