In May 1958 Asahi Pentax introduced the Pentax K, just a month after the release of the Pentax S, at first glance you might not see the difference from the Pentax S, but things were quite different. At first you notice the model K has a new lens named Auto-Takumar 55mm F1.8, bearing a chrome finished diaphragm cocking lever. When you remove the lens you can see both a protruding pin on the lower part of the lens itself and a moving plate inside the base of the body mount. That’s the diaphragm release plate. After the screw mount itself this was a other feature that Pentax used from Praktica.
