The Viscawide-16 is shaped like a brick with a rotating lens at the front and finder , transport and shutter cock on the top. The camera is compact (122x54x47mm the exposure size is 10x49mm.
The main body is well made from black plastic and chrome plated top and bottom. The bottom plate is removable for loading the film cassettes and locked by a knob with a O(pen) and C(lose)indication. The film is inserted in a pair of cassettes specific to the Viscawide and is inscribed Viscawide-16 and has 2 colors Yellow and Red. There is no sprocket shaft, the camera can take any type of film stock, perforated or unperforated.
The rear part of the top plate is covered by a folding frame finder, the advance wheel is on the right side as seen by the photographer, behind this there is a small window for the exposure counter and a small reset button. The shutter consist of a slit running in front of the in-curving path and coupled with the movement of the lens. It is wound by a key at the top in front of the viewfinder and tripped by a lever sliding backwards at the right side of the body. The speeds are selected by a lever on the left with High and slow and a off position. Acting as a shutter lock. The shutter has a fixed width and the speed only depends on the tension of the main spring.
