Voigtlander Bergheil “de Luxe “  ( green)

The Voigtlander Bergheil is a series of well-specified folding plate cameras made by Voigtlander in Braunsweig  from 1912 until 1940. It was sold also as the Tourist. It was available for a range of smaller plate sizes : 4,5x6cm, 6.5x9cm , and 10x15cm. It also toke the Roll film back from Rada. It is a metal bodied very well built camera with leather covering. In some examples Bergheil is impressed in the leather of the focusing screen cover. Others in the leather carrying handle. From the 1930 cameras where built with pattern textured green leather covering and bellows with the same black painted fittings as the standard Bergheil. These are often described as DE Luxe cameras. Voigtlander had stopped making the Brown leather Luxus version by this time. The green leather and bellows tends to darken with age, so that the Green cameras are often not particulary Green , but the texture of the leather is easily recognized. The cameras have a very luxury appearance and the knobs to rise and shift the lens have water bubbles. The lenses are interchangeable complete with the shutter.
