In 1964 Leitz introduced the Leicaflex a superbly finished , solid and expensive SLR. The first Leicaflex model is generally referred to as the original Leicaflex, it was made with a 3 lug bayonet mount which remained substantially unchanged although developed in order to accommodate increased levels of automation. This is the first model with the frame counter oval.
