The fastest telephoto lens ever made for the Nikon Rangefinder system the 8.5cm f1.5 Nikkor-S was introduced in 1951. By slightly modifying the optical formula of the 5cm f1.4 Nikkor-S the designers came up with this super fast short telephoto lens. One of the most exotic of the rangefinder lenses it is a massive lens weighting over 550 grams. Not only was it nearly twice as fast as its slower f2. stable mate , it was also correspondingly more expensive. This lens is marked “C” which states Contax. Only 179 of these lenses where produced.
