Rolleiflex T Grey model 1. Classic TLR with 6x6cm negative size. Made in Germany.

The T (for Tessar) was designed to place a model between other Rolleiflexes and Rolleicords. Franke & Heidecke could afford to offer the T for less than the other Rolleiflexes because they incorporated more expensive lenses . Interestingly enough today used T s sell for about the same price as other Rolleis of the same age. The T’s were the only normal sized Rolleifexes which offered an option of black or grey leather .Until January 1960 the camera was available in grey only, after that date ,it was available in either colour .After serial number 2.151.000 it accepts the Rolleikin.
Other features: Shutter speeds and apertures are controlled by a lever rather than by the wheels found on other models of the period. The T sports a removeable hood , Rollei clear screen , spring-loaded locking device on PC connector, film reminder on focusing knob, non-adjustable pressure plate .
Identifiers : The serial number is preceded by the letter T. The type 1 has MXV synchronization ( the V means self-timer) . On type 1 ‘Synchro-Compur’ is on the faceplate while on type 2 and 3 , it reads ‘Synchro-Compur X”.
